i think there are some clone/jedi relationships done good, but then some are really bad. like really bad. like the clone wars and some of the novels that are clone/jedi centric have bad takes. the best clone/jedi ships i’ve seen are mostly created by fans who actually care about the clones and put effort into it. but the actual creators of the shows and the novels…did really badly with clone/jedi relationships and leaned far to heavily on the “this jedi is nice so nothing is wrong and x clone is happy”.  like that’s why i like looking at like jedi/clone ships created by fans bcs you can tell they care about the clone in question more than care about making their jedi character a savior.

Bad takes

  • Clones doing all of the emotional labor for their poor, suffering Jedi
  • Clones making sure Obi-Wan gets a nap, or Anakin gets comforted or Ahsoka gets built-up exclusively, without any return of their care
  • Jedi taking for granted that their clones will do all of these things.
  • Jedi ignoring the fact that there’s a huge power imbalance in a clone/Jedi relationship.
  • Jedi ignoring the fact that the clones are slaves.

Good takes

  • Jedi realizing they’re not owed emotional labor and providing comfort, concern and care for their clone(s) in an overt manner, not just saying it, but acting on it openly
  • Jedi taking their clones on leave whenever possible to give them rest and recreation.
  • Jedi admiring how handsome/beautiful/wonderful/special the clones are; instead of Jedi being the prize to be sought after, acting the opposite by wanting to earn the esteem of the clones.
  • Jedi realizing that it’s not all about them.
  • Jedi actually acting to help the clones in any way they can, on the battlefield and off.
  • Jedi actually mourning those they lose in battle, genuinely, on the same level as the clones they lead.
  • Jedi actually measuring out how dangerous to their troops a battle might be and making any necessary decisions with clear minds and eyes.
  • Jedi standing up to bad behavior by other Jedi regarding the clones. (HOW THE HELL DID KRELL KEEP HIS COMMISSION SO LONG)

Yes I totally agree. A lot of people literally just use the
clones as tools for the jedi to let out all their emotional pain and labor out
on. And the clones are supposes to be some bland people that just absorb all
that labor without any emotional problems of their own. Like ppl don’t really care
to think about what the clones go through. Like I see this done a lot with rex
and cody. Like cody turns out to be obi-wan’s comfort pillow and rex is
supposed to be like, Anakin and ahsoka’s nanny—that’s how people write their
characters. I am so sick of clones being used for nothing more than the jedi’s
emotional toil and labor. And like yes, one thing that a lot of ppl rarely do
when shipping certain ships is never think the call out the power imbalance and
it’s sometimes ignored al together.

I agree with all your good takes too, and I think a bit one
for me personally, is just actually calling out how bad cloning is. Like actually
challenging the other jedi, the council, etc. like it would be awesome if more
jedi stood up to krell (esp bcs they knew how many clones died under his
command!), but I would also like some challenge the council. Even if it means
them losing a seat in the council, even if it meant some of them losing their
place in the Order because, if the jedi are all about peace and freedom them
being expelled from an establishment that promotes slavery shouldn’t be that
bad in the long wrong. But yes, I love your commentary!

<333 I love your original post.  Like– yes, all of this.
