If you’re one of those people who thinks executive dysfunction only happens for things we don’t like (school, cleaning,) then please consider the fact that I’ve been meaning to plug my phone in for 20 minutes and I’m now at 2% and still putting it off to write this post ¯_(ツ)_/¯
My anime/video game list consists of over 100 titles, easily, and yet I almost never get around to watching/playing any of them.
Executive dysfunction is not just for boring or unenjoyable things. It’s for everything. Even eating.
What is executive dysfunction? O.o
Put simply, it’s difficulty/inability with initiating tasks. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for executive functions, like decision-making and impulse control. People with ADHD and other neurological disorders that affect the prefrontal cortex often experience difficulty making decisions and performing tasks, as well as exercising self restraint. Part of why people with ADHD tend to procrastinate so badly is out of genuine inability to begin tasks, even if they’re very important.
It feels, for me at least, like I’m constantly waiting for something and I can’t start X task because I’m waiting. I never know what exactly I’m waiting for, but that doesn’t stop me from wasting hours and days not doing the things I need to do, even if I have a desire to do them.

Oh thank god, someone put it into words.
For me it’s also waiting for the “right” time to come to complete the task because for some reason my brain thinks doing the task at any other time is horribly, horribly wrong, weird, and out of order. The “right” time might come eventually, might not. It’s a lottery.
Yeah. This.
Y’all make it sound so deep but tbh to me it feels like tapping on the ‘Do the dishes’ button but a screen pops up saying ‘you must be lvl 27 to do this activity’ and I’m like ‘well shit I’m only lvl 26 so I guess I’ll just dick around until my exp goes up
And then next time I tap ‘do the dishes’ it demands I’m lvl 28 and by that time it’s getting a bit moldy and I’m just staring furiously at this pile of dishes, slapping the ‘Do the Dishes’ button to no avail. The stars aren’t in position.
The stars are never in position.

Anakin didn’t care about Clone lives?
(Related to this post by padawanlost. I’m putting it separately because the best points were already made in that thread and I’m just compiling things here and I’m shy.)
A while ago I read some people’s analysis on how Anakin (and Ahsoka and Obi-Wan too, apparently) did not care about clone lives based on The Clone Wars series.
Okay, fine, people can have opinions. Let’s look at the details.
They accuse that Anakin:
- risked clone lives during Malevolence run just to hog all glory.
- risked clone lives just to get R2 back. (okay this one got me)
- (with Ahsoka) threw Rex off the wall in Second Geonosis.
- (with Obi-Wan) did not save that one clone who lost his grip and fell from the cliff in Citadel arc.
- did not check if Echo was really dead or show any sad emotions for it.
- (with Obi-Wan) never gives dead clones their due while taking time for an impromptu funeral for Jedi Master Piel in Citadel arc. (because clearly they are the only ones with that problem)
- did not do for Fives in Order 66 arc as much as he did for Ahsoka.
All right, fine. I could refute at least half of the above list, but that might get subjective real fast.
Still, probably don’t forget the times Anakin:
- wanted to help Rex in Teth battle on the risk of failing the mission.
- staged a rescue mission after being told not to in Malevolence arc because “lives are at stake.”
- helped a weakened Wolffe (I think that was Wolffe?) get out of the broken pod (and get the med droid to tend to them)
- changed courses in Malevolence run when someone gave a better option.
- from the same episode, “I also can’t take the lives I lost lightly.”
- got himself blown up after getting everyone (including clones who are not under his command) to safety in Jedi Crash.
- charged ahead solo to take out the defoliator on his own despite above injuries.
- tells Rex to stand down and not risk unnecessary conflict with the Talz in Tresspass.
- paused mid battle to save Denal from falling to his death. (and then letting him down gently while running after Ahsoka)
- was visibly relieved to see Red Eye (apparently) okay in Voyage of Temptation.
- yelled “Get behind me!” when facing spider assassin droids because he’s better equipped than the clones to handle them.
- immediately went to help Rex and Cody from above mentioned spider droids.
- (with Ahsoka) is shown trying to help injured clones after a bomb unexpectedly blew up nearby on Zygerria arc.
- on multiple occasions is shown to be the last one boarding the evacuating gunship.
- showed visible sadness when Commander Ponds was executed by Boba’s gang.
- gets comatose Tup out of the Separatist clutches in Order 66 arc.
- The Bad Batch arc is about him getting Echo back.
Bonus from the movie: Anakin wanted to help the clone pilots during the battle over Coruscant in RotS, even though the mission is to rescue the Chancellor.
So I don’t know, the evidence *clearly* stacks against him. /sarcasm
And sure Jedi such as Mace Windu and Yoda *clearly* cared more than our main trio because of That One Time Yoda gave clones pep talk and That One Time Mace helped his men during his limelight episode. /double sarcasm
TCW isn’t entirely consistent with their characterizations, especially if it involves Rule of Funny or Rule of Cool. (Geonosis one is definitely a case of Rule of Funny in my opinion) In fact, all visual media does that now and then. Still, there is an overall trend on how clones are treated by Jedi.
For the record, I do not think Mace and Yoda ever intentionally ‘not care’ or abuse clones. I do not believe any Jedi (aside from those like Krell) would do that. But the problem is that we see more (arguably) conflicting evidence for Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan and not for Mace and Yoda, because we see Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan more. There isn’t enough *statistical power* to make a good comparison between two groups.
Also for those who accuse of Ahsoka not hesitating to kill clones who were brainwashed by Geonosis bug to kill her and Barriss… Yoda didn’t bat an eye before beheading clones that crept up to him during Order 66 either but no one talks about that for some reason.

Those blogs you look up to liking your posts is both scary and unbelievably cool tbh
As someone who has been living with severe suicidal ideation my entire life I wanna tell you all something, you don’t have to stay alive for yourself. People will say it’s a bad idea to live for external things because they’re temporary, and it’s true living for yourself is ideal but if you’re not to that point yet that’s ok too.
I’ve lived for my dog for the past 4 years, before that I lived for my snakes, before that I lived for my cat. You can live for whatever needs you and whatever matters to you. Live for your best friend, live for your plants, live for your pets, live for your animal crossing town. Live for whatever keeps you alive and the day will come when you can live for yourself.
This is something everyone should see. Thank you for sharing this.
Transformers kept me alive. When the 2007 movie was announced I was going through an incredibly hard time emotionally. I saw the preview and every time I thought about killing myself I thought, “but then I won’t get to see this thing I’ve always wanted to see, good or not.” And it got me through.
I’m in a place where I live for myself now, but don’t toss away a life preserver just because other people think you should be able to swim on your own.
don’t toss away a life preserver just because other people think you should be able to swim on your own
THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS
I can say that for myself, waiting to see how all these Marvel films turn out has been a hell of a life preserver for me
Yeah. Whatever it is you gotta do to keep yourself alive, cling to it. The “reason to smile” tag equates to a “reason to live”. It is those connections outside of our ownselves that can give us the ability to live.
we dont get any sort of peak into how fives is feeling and that makes me mad
the body language between rex and anakin when they find fives is like, so stiff. the moment they meet fives you can tell Rex wants to say more. But he can’t; he’s restricted and that’s because of Anakin. He is so uncomfortable around Anakin, he doesn’t want Anakin to be there because he knows Anakin will make the situation worse (and he does!! his outburst and lack of understanding gets Fives killed!!). Rex believes Fives and wants to say so much more–he wants to comfort him, calm him down and tell him everything will be fine. Fives is his brother, and Rex knows he can handle the situation. He also knows that Fives is afraid, and honest and just needs someone to listen. Rex didn’t want Anakin there, but he was there and that is where things went wrong. Anakin doesn’t even realize how much he was intruding in that moment between two brothers, he doesn’t even see the importance in the moment(hell it was even an important moment between Fox, Fives and Rex). He was aggressive, rude and didn’t even care what his presence being there had done. Anakin is to blame for Fives death, not Fox; his presence, his energy was so repulsive to Rex and you could tell. But Rex couldn’t speak out, he couldn’t say anything. He could only watch as a jedi got his brother murdered.
i think there are some clone/jedi relationships done good, but then some are really bad. like really bad. like the clone wars and some of the novels that are clone/jedi centric have bad takes. the best clone/jedi ships i’ve seen are mostly created by fans who actually care about the clones and put effort into it. but the actual creators of the shows and the novels…did really badly with clone/jedi relationships and leaned far to heavily on the “this jedi is nice so nothing is wrong and x clone is happy”. like that’s why i like looking at like jedi/clone ships created by fans bcs you can tell they care about the clone in question more than care about making their jedi character a savior.
Bad takes
- Clones doing all of the emotional labor for their poor, suffering Jedi
- Clones making sure Obi-Wan gets a nap, or Anakin gets comforted or Ahsoka gets built-up exclusively, without any return of their care
- Jedi taking for granted that their clones will do all of these things.
- Jedi ignoring the fact that there’s a huge power imbalance in a clone/Jedi relationship.
- Jedi ignoring the fact that the clones are slaves.
Good takes
- Jedi realizing they’re not owed emotional labor and providing comfort, concern and care for their clone(s) in an overt manner, not just saying it, but acting on it openly
- Jedi taking their clones on leave whenever possible to give them rest and recreation.
- Jedi admiring how handsome/beautiful/wonderful/special the clones are; instead of Jedi being the prize to be sought after, acting the opposite by wanting to earn the esteem of the clones.
- Jedi realizing that it’s not all about them.
- Jedi actually acting to help the clones in any way they can, on the battlefield and off.
- Jedi actually mourning those they lose in battle, genuinely, on the same level as the clones they lead.
- Jedi actually measuring out how dangerous to their troops a battle might be and making any necessary decisions with clear minds and eyes.
- Jedi standing up to bad behavior by other Jedi regarding the clones. (HOW THE HELL DID KRELL KEEP HIS COMMISSION SO LONG)
Yes I totally agree. A lot of people literally just use the
clones as tools for the jedi to let out all their emotional pain and labor out
on. And the clones are supposes to be some bland people that just absorb all
that labor without any emotional problems of their own. Like ppl don’t really care
to think about what the clones go through. Like I see this done a lot with rex
and cody. Like cody turns out to be obi-wan’s comfort pillow and rex is
supposed to be like, Anakin and ahsoka’s nanny—that’s how people write their
characters. I am so sick of clones being used for nothing more than the jedi’s
emotional toil and labor. And like yes, one thing that a lot of ppl rarely do
when shipping certain ships is never think the call out the power imbalance and
it’s sometimes ignored al together.I agree with all your good takes too, and I think a bit one
for me personally, is just actually calling out how bad cloning is. Like actually
challenging the other jedi, the council, etc. like it would be awesome if more
jedi stood up to krell (esp bcs they knew how many clones died under his
command!), but I would also like some challenge the council. Even if it means
them losing a seat in the council, even if it meant some of them losing their
place in the Order because, if the jedi are all about peace and freedom them
being expelled from an establishment that promotes slavery shouldn’t be that
bad in the long wrong. But yes, I love your commentary!<333 I love your original post. Like– yes, all of this.
Into the Unknown
“I was framed!” Fives says, his voice breaking, “because I know the truth. The truth about a plot, a massive deception.”
Rex’s eyes bore into him. “By whom?”
Fives struggles to find the words. “Well there’s a sinister plot, in the works against the Jedi!” He feels muddled, cloudy. But he needs to make them see. “I have proof of it. I can prove that everything that I know is true beyond a shadow of a doubt!”
General Skywalker’s face scowls at him. “Show me the evidence.”
Fives fights to bring the words into focus. He needs to say this. He has to. “The evidence…is…in here. It’s–– it’s in here. It’s in all of us, every clone.”
“What is it?” Rex asks.
The immensity of it is too great. The implications. He slumps against a stack of boxes. “Organic chips built into our genetic code, to make us do whatever someone wants. Even kill the Jedi! It’s all in here.”
General Skywalker glances at Rex, the scowl still on his face. “Let’s just get you some help first. Then we can review everything. It’ll be okay, Fives. We’ll sort this out.”
Fives lets out a frustrated cry. “You don’t believe me!” His words echo through the warehouse.
“I believe you,” a voice answers back.
Fives turns his head. “What? Who–– who’s there?”
A shape emerges from the shadows, slowly, cautiously. Fives tries to identify it. The edges of his vision are blurring. He shakes his head, trying to clear it. If this is a trap, he needs to be able to run. Needs to get out.
“Fives,” the figure says, stepping into the light, hands up, nonthreatening. “I believe you. But we have to go. Now.”
Rex’s audible intake of breath carries through the ray shield. Fives can’t even take a breath, can’t move, can’t think. “You…”
The flickering ray shield throws Dogma’s tattoos into stark relief and then into shadows again. “It’s me,” he says, “it’s really me. I’ve been following you since I heard. But we have to go, Fives.”
“But…”
“Fives you have to trust me. I can’t explain right now. Corrie Guard are on their way here to get you, we have to go. Trust me.”
Fives glances from Dogma to Rex. He looks back to Dogma. The room sways uncomfortably. What else can he do?
“I trust you.”
Dogma scoops up Rex’s pistols and tucks them into his jacket. “Sorry Captain,” he says, “we need these more than you do.” His hand closes around Fives’ elbow. “We have to go.”
Fives takes a stumbling step after him, then another. Into the shadows. Into the unknown. He can hear Rex and General Skywalker yelling after him, but they wouldn’t listen. They wouldn’t listen. He has one chance now, one way out.
“How did you find me?”
“Comm chatter. Surveillance cams. Transport traces.”
Dogma hurries him through a small door onto a service platform. He barely makes out the shape of a covered speeder before he tumbles into the backseat. His stomach twists as the speeder pulls away and dives. “Comms? I wasscareful.” His words come out slurred. It’s getting harder to keep his eyes open.
Dogma’s soft chuckle drifts from the front seat. “Chasing code isn’t something I got the chance to showcase on Umbara. Jesse insisted on cracking the Umbaran encryptions, remember?”
Memories come to Fives, shifting with each sway of the speeder. Marching, and battle, and stealing a starfighter, flying, lying, disobeying orders, saving the day and a prison with shielded walls, the silhouettes of brothers and blasters, the blinding fear of staring at death…
And a shaking hand holding his pistol. A hand that wasn’t his.
I had to. He betrayed us.
“Umbara…” is all he can say.
Dogma’s voice is soft. “I think about that a lot. I have a lot to tell you, and a lot to make up for.”
“Don’t haveto…” Fives tries to say, but he’s losing the battle against keeping his eyes open and making his mouth work. “Why…”
“Because you’re right. And you have to tell everyone. You’ll be okay. I’ve got you. Trust me.”
Fives slumps in the seat, feeling more than seeing the lights flash by out the speeder window, swirling around him. Trust. He could do that. He could…do that. He could…trust…Dogma.
“Hang in there,” comes Dogma’s voice again. “Hang in there, brother.”
