You know why its important to think critically about the Jedi Order? Because learning to think critically about fictional institutions and their actions teaches you how to do the same thing about the real world. Love the characters, love the writing, but blindly accepting the party line that the Order are unimpeachable good guys sets a dangerous precedent.

They weren’t even meant to be unimpeachable good guys. 

Did the writers always meant all the way and the intensity by which they are flawed, misguided beings falling horrifyingly short of their mandate? Maybe not. 

But we aren’t meant to read them as paragons of virtue who can do no wrong either.
