ok but major props to the writers of gotg2 for not altering nebula’s character. other than growing in regards to her interactions with gamora, she largely remains herself: she is still wary, still violent, still seeking to kill thanos. her character doesn’t radically change, rather the audience’s perception of her does with the revelation of the nature of her abuse. yet at the same time, the film is careful not to demonize gamora either, as it’s made clear through the sisters’ last conversation that while gamora is remorseful for her actions, both she and nebula understand that thanos alone is to blame for their years of abuse. so yeah, props to the writers of gotg2 for that, as i can’t think of a single other time a similar situation has occurred in regards to the treatment of two female characters in film.
