Do we know anything about how many casualties there were in the Clone Wars? Counting Jedi, clone, and civilian casualties?

padawanlost:

No, the official
number was never published as far as I know. what we do know is that the Clone Wars
remain one of the bloodiest wars the GFFA ever faced and THAT is saying
something. we also know that many died from indirect causes such as famine and
crime. Honestly, I think they played smart by not giving an exact number
because whatever that number was it was bound to be as controversial as the
clone army. Also, there’s no way both the CIS and Republic were able to keep
track of all the dead in the middle of a galaxy-wide war.

The closest
we get to a number is this:

For years,
the galaxy-wide conflict known as the Clone Wars has raged. The struggle
between the rightful government of the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of
Independent Systems has claimed the
lives of untold billions
. The Force-wielding Jedi, for millennia the
guardians of peace in the galaxy, have been thwarted at nearly every turn by
the Separatists and their leader, the Sith Lord Count Dooku. With the war
showing no signs of ending, and the
casualties mounting each day,
the Jedi must consider every possible means
of defeating their cunning foe. Whether some means are too unthinkable—and some
allies too untrustworthy—has yet to be revealed…[Christie Golden. Dark

This is
Disney’s canon but, tbh, I agree with this number and tragic as it is. It makes
sense for it to be billions, considering entire PLANETS were ravaged by war.
