Not that I know
of. We do know the GFFA had sentientologists/anthropologists that researched
planets and species so we could assume they had a level of interest in discovering
new life and cultures. However, the GFFA has had space travel for thousands of
years before so it’s rare to find habitable and unexplored planets with
developed societies.“A place that no one has ever heard of,” the
Shi’ido said thoughtfully. “We should find a planet that has not been charted.
That would be safe from the Empire.” Zak shook his head. “But if it’s a planet
no one’s ever charted, how are we going to find it?” Hoole led them out of the
alley. “There is a way. As you both know, my anthropology work has taken me to
many different planets. Whenever an exploration party has discovered a new
planet, they send data to our research facility on the planet Koaan. Sometimes,
it takes months for this data to be studied. And since the Empire took over …”
[John Whitman’s The Hunger]And when
such planets were found, they were studied and catalogued. So I doubt they had
anything as strict as the prime directive. That being said, beings like the
Jedi tried to respect and protect new, unexplored cultures as much as possible
(even if they were totally arrogant about it and considered these cultures
uncivilized).“It’s
amazing that it hasn’t been colonized,” Anakin said. “It was given in
trust to the Senate by it own government,” Obi-Wan explained. “Only small tribes of natives still inhabit
it. A Senate committee handles request to visit. Only the Jedi and small groups
of beings can visit at any one time. Access is strictly controlled. That was
Ragoon-6 will remain unspoiled, as the government wanted. The are no air lanes,
no factories, no cities.” Jude Watson’s Trail of the JediI’d say they
probably that laws about protecting new planets and cultures but I seriously
doubt they had anything as altruistic as the Prime Directive. This is a galaxy that thrived by colonizing
new planets and exploring the disfranchised. And even if they had such laws I doubt
they were strongly obeyed. If they couldn’t reinforce something as basic as
anti-slavery laws, I don’t see them putting too much effort in protecting such
planets.
