Qui-Gon touching Obi-Wan’s face will forever be seared into my memory as the singular most painful point of the entire prequel trilogy simply because it’s such a tender moment

He’s touching the face of the Padawan he’s raised, a boy who has become a man, full of fire and light and love, and he’s saying “I’m sorry. Forgive me. Goodbye” 

And Obi-Wan has to let him go, all the things he wants to say unable to be spoken aloud “Please don’t go. Stay with me. Don’t leave. I love you”
