@clone-nerd

I originally messed you your request my accidentally misreading lol! I know you said it was oaky but I really wanted to write something Keeli centric for you so here this is !

 Keeli didn’t die on Ryloth.

He woke up in pain to some of the Twileks tending to him and his armor missing. For the longest time, he couldn’t speak or move so he remained there and allowed himself to be treated. In his mind, things were fishy and confusing—he couldn’t remember all that happened right away. He couldn’t remember how he’d gotten to this point.

A few days pass and he is better, but things feel different. He isn’t better inside.

He’s already discovered that his men died, that his general died and from his point of view, their battle over Ryloth was pointless.

Keeli hates the fact that he was the only survivor. He was their commander, was he not? So why was he not the first one to die, or simply, why did he not die with them? These were questions that he continued to ask himself, over and over again while he healed. For the longest time, he felt alone. He missed his brothers. Seeing the families on Ryloth interact with one another was almost like a stab in the heart, and he wished for the longest time that they let him die.

His opinion changes however when he’s well enough to go outside, and the twilek who was tending to him starts to become more than a pair of hands that change his gauze. When he can finally speak and  around after his injury heals, he starts helping out around Ryloth. The village he’s in has no military presence, but it’s been severely ravaged by the war. So he starts there. His Twilek care taker quickly becomes a friend to him. Keeli knows he had no reason to rescue him (because a lot of Twileks are bitter about the clone presence) but he did, and for that, Keeli is grateful. Keeli helps around the house, helps around the village and before he knows it—people are calling him by name. People are happy to see him and have him around. He makes friends, gets absorbed into Twilek tradition and culture, he even ends up marrying is Twilek care taker after a couple of years. Anyway, Keeli has found his new life and his new home and he’s happy.
