In the episode of Clone Wars where they’re on Geonosis with those mind controlling aliens (I forget the episode name), why was Obi-Wan so interested in seeing how the mind contol worked? Like Anakin and Luminara were all like «no, we should probably stop this before it happens» but Obi-Wan kept saying that he wanted to wait and see how it works. I never thought of Obi-Wan as a character that would put curiosity over someone’s safety. Was he just joking? I never understood that scene.

padawanlost:

Maybe it
was a bit of both? I haven’t watched that episode in a long time so I could be
totally wrong here, but I always assumed it was part of the plan (with a mix of
his sass and a genuine interest in figuring out how their species worked).
Anakin and Obi-wan’s bickering was a distraction and it’s not that Obi-wan didn’t
care about Luminara but he knew they had better chances of surviving if they
had more knowledge on how things work and they had to wait for Cody’s team to
be in position.

Obi-wan: It’s a sort of mind control, a hive mind. She thinks she can possess us.
Anakin: Great. Find out everything you wanted to know yet?
Obi-wan:  No, wait, I want to see how it works.
Anakin:  I don’t think Luminara wants to see how it works.
Luminara: No, I don’t.
Obi-wan:  I’m curious. The more we know, the better.
Luminara:  I disagree!
Anakin: So do I.
Obi-wan:  Come, now, the nose or the ear? Which do you think it will enter?
Anakin: I think the nose.
Luminara: I hope this is part of the plan.
Obi-wan:  Isn’t it always? Cody! Now!

Obi-wan can
be a bit callous with his humor, I mean, he was sassing his padawan when they
were both about to eaten by giant monster. What he did to Luminara wasn’t exactly
OOC for him.
