DARTH VADER #8
written by Charles Soule
art by Giuseppe Camuncoli and Daniele Orlandini

I AM GLAD THEY TOOK THIS MOMENT.  I’m sure it’s an extra layer of insult that the Grand Inquisitor is in the library, Jocasta’s beloved place and her beloved books, but it’s more than just that, it’s about what the Sith have done to their home.  The violence they wreaked there, still lingering in the Force that was their sanctuary, their place of rest and comfort.  The Sith slaughtered their people, their children even, and then desecrated their beautiful, peaceful home.

Jocasta’s anger about it really is a punch to the gut about what it means to see a Sith so casually rifling through their home, to really bring home how Order 66 was a horrific crime against the Jedi, to see how sick it made them to feel all of that in the Force and to see it with her own eyes, to know what the Sith had done to their art and their people and their home, the place they lived, the place where she grew up, the warmth and comfort she found there–all violently defiled.

And then one of them is just sitting there, casually reading like it’s no big deal, and she’s a Jedi, she will focus on what needs to be done first and foremost, but of course she’s angry.  She won’t let it consume her, but it says so much about how this was her HOME and this Sith has violated it in such a terrible, terrible way.
