But mentally, the clones were bsaically prepared for failure. They’re told they’re the best of the best, that they’re super soldiers and able to withstand anything–until there isn’t a Jedi around. Then it’s “how are we going to do this without a Jedi!” even though they likely went through the same situation in training where there were no Jedi at all.
You figure orders given by Jedi are not given frequently during battle and don’t normally amount to much. The clones communicate with each other more than the jedi do with them or they do with the Jedi. I’ve seen Rex give more direction than Anakin in the span of a minute. They can handle themselves but have also been led to believe that their very success relies on the presence of a Jedi.
