All around the galaxy liberty died but not with a “thunderous applause". Liberty had died for many people long before Padme cared to realize, and it didn’t die in a Senate Room. On Ryloth it died when the twileks were taken as slaves but they didn’t give up. They fought even with the odds against them, while their corrupt Senator sat at a place of comfort with all the other greedy politicians. For Saw and Steela their liberty died long ago, but not with a “thunderous applause”, but with gun fire and bombs, and the citizens of Olderon taking back what was there’s, despite the majority of the Republic not wanting to help.

For many people liberty had already died but they weren’t giving up. Even if they were underground in bomb shelters, running away from Separatists with nothing but the clothes on their backs, they prevailed. They were the unnamed leaders of the rebellion, those who made sure their liberty didn’t die with a thunderous applause. Those who weren’t privileged enough to see their “liberty” die in a room filled with senators and wealthy politicians.

Padme failed to realize that people’s liberty died far before she noticed. While she attended senatorial banquets, dressed in lavish clothing and exquisite foods while the very people who lost liberty were starving and dying. And it didn’t ever register to her that while she sat in a place of privilege, rebellions were already taking place. Rebellions that went unnoticed, brave leaders like Steela who died for liberty. Rebellions that existed far before Padme’s liberty line, yet rebellions that most of the fandom gives Padme credit for (i.e the “Mother of the Rebellion")

In short, padme’s liberty line is flawed and is another pointer of the epitome of her privilege.
