I know I told this story before but last year I was having complications with a surgery and I just broke down in a public place and I was trying to gather myself, sitting and leaning on a wall when this girl in cowboy boots approached me and sat down and she asked what was wrong and I told her it was medical issues and she said “I understand, I have to have my foot amputated next week” and it shocked me out of crying and I was like “wow that sucks!” And she said “yeah.” And then she just touched my arm so tenderly and told me “I promise you that this problem will have its place, and everything is going to work out.” And the way she said it just made me really believe her. She said. “We’re just gonna have to cowgirl up.” And then she stood up and walked away and I’d call that a genuine encounter with an angel but the truth is there is a lot of goodness right here on earth in humanity and it’s shining and pure.
Okay but “this problem will have its place” is genuinely inspiring
THAT REALLY STRUCK ME because I’ve always hated the tired rhetoric of “this happened for a reason” and this feels like a more genuine, comforting take on that. Not “it happened for a reason,” but “this will find its spot in your life and your future that it fits into in a way that will eventually work out even though it sucks that it happened.” Love that.
Exactly!
Anakin makes terrible decisions but that doesn’t mean he’s a terrible character
or that we are terrible people for enjoying him. His ability to go great things
AND terrible things is what makes him the most well developed character in the
franchise. And we try to pretend he didn’t do either, that he was either
completely good or completely evil we end up denying what makes him a great
character.
Yes! Imo the bad thing about the fandom is that
most people tend to look at things in “black and white” instead of all
the different shades of gray that exist (and then complain about the
character doing the same thing). Anakin’s terrible AND great acts is
what makes me love him as a character.
We can’t just look at all the bad things about him, because even in his
darkest times, as Vader, he still had light (good) in him. THAT WAS THE
POINT OF ALL THE SAGA!!!
some of y’all and the media is so disgusting and overwhelmingly sexist it’s ridiculous. justin bieber spent 2-3 years being a massive dick to everyone for no reason, putting people’s lives in danger by speeding down streets, and sleeping with underaged girls. he goes on stage singing “sorry” and crying and all is forgiven. he still sells a ton, still has huge concerts, no one cares. but ariana grande literally has 22 of her fans blown up in front of her and people only gave a fuck for 3 months? she is groped at a FUNERAL and all people can talk about is how short her dress is. she leaves a toxic relationship with a substance abuser and SHE is blamed for his death. y’all really hate women!
