Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man 1 & 2, The Juggle Book, and the Lion King remake, is the creator and will be the show runner of the entire series. There are also multiple talented and diverse Directors attached to the project.
Rick Famuyiwa, director of Dope, and many other movies and shows, will be will be directing episodes in the first season
Taika Waititi, director of Thor Ragnarok, and many other movies, will direct an episode as well.
Deborah Chow, a director from Jessica Jones, Lost in Space, Better Call Saul and multiple other shows, will be directing episodes in the first season.
Dave Filoni, creator of The Clones and Rebels will be directing the pilot, and is on producer attached to it.
Bryce Dallas Howard, will be directing an episode in the first season as well. Yes, she’s related to Ron Howard.
Greig Fraser, Cinematographer for Rogue One, and a bucket load more films, will be the Cinematographer attached to the show.
It’s got fucking Mandalorians in it! What else can be better Than Mandalorians?!
I mean look at this talented and diverse list of creators! I’m hype.
Jon’s choices for directors – apart from Filoni but I suppose he couldn’t avoid having him – makes me cautiously optimistic for this. I wish I could be hyped but Star Wars has disappointed me too much in the last year.
Still, it is looking better than I thought it would when they announced a live action TV-series. There’s also some interesting sneaked photos on Making Star Wars’ website that indicates that there’ll be some kind of castle setting for it.
Yeah, I have mixed feelings about Filoni as well. On one hand, I love Rebels and Clone Wars, on the other had, there are a lot of things I hate in both show. New Mandalorians being the most known thing I bitch about. Though he does have good ideas, and the other directors are pretty amazing as well. I’m just tired of people thanking or crediting everyone, but the actual creator Jon Favreau.
I find that since people are hating on the show already, I’m more incline to root for it. All we have is an image and a bunch of diverse directors. I like the directors and I’ve seen most of all they’re work. I had mixed feelings about Johnson just cause I didn’t like his movies, but hopefully this is a beacon of hope in the subversion dumpster we’ve been having.
I’m gunna be reblogging some stuff from my sideblogs this month for the sake of DeDraMo. Hoping to make this my third *fourth successful year in a row! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
EDIT: This is way too late and probably futile, but for the record, this comic takes place in a domestic Earth AU. The Force can’t help him with that towel.
“Master, wait.” Anakin turned to face him fully. He couldn’t just stand here and let him walk away. Not now. He had to say something …
He had a sinking feeling he might not get another chance.
“Master …,” he said hesitantly, “I know I’ve … disappointed you in these past few days. I have been arrogant. I have … not been very appreciative of your training, and what’s worse, of your friendship. I offer no excuse, Master. My frustration with the Council … I know that none of it is your fault, and I apologize. For all of it. Your friendship means everything to me.”
“why can’t female heroes kick arse in heels” because it’s not practical and will literally snap your damn ankle you can scream weaponised femininity all you want but first off, you need to admit that they’re not an almighty symbol of empowerment, and secondly that if you do a job with a lot of physical activity in heels you’re risking your own safety. all these women fighting in heels on tv are going to end up seriously injuring themselves.
weaponised femininity is a concept made up in an attempt to get us to embrace the industries created to hold us back/profit from our insecurities so that we can continue to fit into the male expectation of what a woman should be and not question why we are forced to spend thousands on our appearance every year
just a small anecdote. I had a friend who worked in theater; she was the stage manager and an actress came to her in tears one day because the director absolutely refused to let her do a choreographed fight scene in less than 3 inch heels because “they’re platforms so you’ll be okay.” My friend, who is a woman’s size 10, brought her own heels in the next day and DEMANDED the director put them on and try the choreography before the actress did it. He finally agreed to change it, without putting the heels on.
so like I know you might think of “all those women on tv fighting in heels” as fictional woman who WOULD hurt themselves in real life, but its fiction so its okay…except those women are portrayed by real actresses who are actually fighting in actual heels, being directed by dudes who have never worn a pair of heels in their lives, alongside men who aren’t expected to constantly wear things that make their stunts 2x more dangerous than they have to be. Just a thought.
Men take “let’s see feminine women being badass” to mean “let’s see women impractically focused on their appearance in combat situations.“
That’s why I loved Black Panther even more Nakia took off her heels and used them as weapons and was running and driving around barefoot in that one scene
A number of stuntwomen have spoken out about getting injured on sets because the character is wearing heels and skimpy clothing that provide no protection or padding. It literally harms rl women.
The only way I wanna see a women fight with heels is if she takes them off and fights with them a la Mulan/Nakia style.
sorry i can’t hear the noise of male entitlement over the sound of Evangeline Lilly and every other woman sighing in frustration
They photoshopped the heels onto wonder woman. Not even Gal Gadot could fight in them, but it was so important to The Look™ that they frame by frame added them. Gal wore flats to the red carpet in protest.
All of this so much I can’t even.
I find walking in heels hard enough, and whenever I need to run in them I’m terrified at every step thinking I might break an ankle if I plant the heel wrong on the ground. Dancing in them is twice as exhaustive and gets my toes covered in blisters. Men need to get their heads out of their asses, or maybe just try a pair of heels just to give them perspective.
